ObGyn? Midwife? Hospital? Birth Center? Homebirth? Birthing families have some tough decisions to make. Our opinions can be shaped by the way our own moms or sisters birthed, by what our society deems as “safe” or what is culturally acceptable. Which path is better? It depends on who answers the question - you! Ultimately each expecting family decides the direction that is best for them. Midwives are a kindred collective group of Grandmothers, Mothers, Teachers, Activists, Nurses, & Doulas whom have been trained in the Midwifery Model of Care™. This model is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life events, not illnesses. Midwives are experts in providing the best in prenatal care, education & counseling through all stages of low-risk pregnancy; minimizing technological interventions; and identifying & referring women who require obstetrical attention. ~~~ I personally look forward to the blood, sweat, tears, hours of study & hands-on training ahead to become one of these amazing providers. I am thrilled at the prospect of studying under apprenticeship with a Certified Professional Midwife & will be undergoing rigorous instruction, testing & certification through North American Registry of Midwives(NARM). I am most excited to bring Doula experience along with a heart of gold, amazing hands, a passion for natural birth, and various forms of massage & bodywork to an outstanding Midwifery practice!
